Is there a better job than working for five months with Nicole Kidman in an Australian seaside resort, in full pandemic?
Grace Van Patten: Honestly, it changed my life.Being associated with the name of Nicole Kidman was too good to be true.I was a big fan of his work and I already loved the previous series of the showrunner, David E.Kelley.So when I received an email for the hearing, I said to myself, well ok, there I have to try my luck ...

Zoe's story takes some episodes to set up.What was your first impression when reading the script?
I did not immediately have the opportunity to read the scripts, but there was a description of the particularly rich and excavated character, who explained who was Zoe and what she was going through. It attracted my attention, because generally this kind of description comes down to a single sentence, with little details.I ended up reading the book and I fell in love with the history of the Marconi.I created a small reading club with my friends where we read and talk about the book every week.Being able to discuss the text and hear their opinions helped me to apprehend it, and today my friends are all fans of the series.
Did you rely a lot on Zoe's description in the book to appropriate the character?
I mainly relied on the time I spent discussing it with Asher Keddie and Michael Shannon. We had very deep conversations on the family dynamics of the Marconi, on the way they lived before the tragedy and how she changed them. This gave us all three of a work base. Our characters all manage mourning so different that they can no longer connect.Zoe lost her brother, but she also lost her parents a bit.If they come to peace, it's to meet.
