You will hear it from morning to night, on the way to work or on the way home from a party, from Brossard to Deux-Montagnes. Who will be the voice of the Metropolitan Express Network (REM)? It will be up to the main interested parties to decide! Future users will have until the end of August to choose the voice that will accompany their journeys for years to come.
Don't miss the train, because a contest like this won't be back for a very, very long time.
"It's not every day that we build a metro network from A to Z. In Montreal, we haven't had this opportunity for more than 50 years," rejoices Jean- Vincent Lacroix, spokesperson for the REM.
Work on the electric train project began five years ago. The South Shore–Central Station line should be operational by 2022, and the entire network by 2024. But it takes more than rails and stations to set up a transport network. It also needs a visual and sound signature. “A 360 vision”, as Mr. Lacroix points out.
We had already seen the first images of the cars, with their large bay windows and green accents, but this will be the first time that we will be able to “hear” the REM.
