Gender paintings, religious or allegorical, the work of the Le Nain brothers (Antoine, Louis and Mathieu) testifies to their time through the representation of portraits, or rural and often picturesque scenes.An exhibition, entitled "Le mystery Le Nain", takes place at the Louvre-Lens museum until June 26.Several canvases have become real icons in art history (such as the peasants' meal made in 1642) - having influenced painters such as Vincent Van Gogh - while their meaning remains still vague and enigmatic to this day.Luc Piralla, head of the Conservation and Co-Commissioner of the exhibition, comments on the world a selection.
