Yohji Yamamoto presented its new fall-winter 2019-2020 collection during the ready-to-wear fashion show in Paris. Sarah Moon, alongside us, slips that “Japanese designers are rare talents”. Yohji Yamamoto, who belongs to the pantheon of the photographer, delivers a vintage of perfect sobriety. No colors, just solid materials, felts and silks that he cuts raw, drapes, ties or pleats excessively for coats, jackets, skirts with trains , with cutouts and accidents. He goes back to the root of his style which sometimes seems to hang by a thread and, paradoxically, has been crossing fashions for almost fifty years. In this season when many collections are refocusing on clothing and, in passing, paying tribute to it more or less supported, it would not be surprising if his house knew a second youth.
