Thierry Mugler leaves the world of fashion in mourning. The fashion designer died at the age of 73 on Sunday January 23. His friend Jean-Paul Gaultier praised his career and his work in an interview with Canal +, in the program En Aparté. "I'm very sad because he's someone I knew well, with whom I had a very good relationship. We don't hate each other like that in fashion." Jean-Paul Gaultier mentioned the evolution of Thierry Mugler over the years - an evolution he has witnessed: "That was Thierry before and after, he became someone else completely. I knew him when he started out. (…) We are more or less of the same generation. And so there you have it, I admired his work. Great talent, great rigor, completely perfectionist. The designer known for his marinière praised his "very precise style". "We even recognize by a stitching that it's Thierry Mugler. We recognize in many things that it's him. That's something rare!"

Sunday January 23, Thierry Mugler died at the age of 73 from "natural causes", announced his agent. "We have the immense sadness to inform you of the death of Mr. Manfred Thierry Mugler which occurred on Sunday January 23, 2022", said Jean-Baptiste Rougeot. As a reminder, his career is currently the subject of a retrospective at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, until April 24th.
