Haute Couture: the most beautiful outfits for spring-summer 2022.<

A bi-annual meeting place for the fashion world, the Parisian haute couture week allows designers to present their collections in small groups in mythical places in the capital. This year again, the houses have drawn on imagination and creativity to offer sophisticated collections.

All in transparency

For this spring-summer 2022 edition, the trend was for fluid and transparent materials, with rather vaporous silhouettes. We could see many clothes made from silk organza, lace and muslin. Sequins and embroidery were also very present in the collections of this edition. A trend found at Dior, Fendi, Chanel, but also Schiaparelli with an emphasis on details in rather sober monochrome tones. The opportunity in particular for Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director at Dior, to show the craftsmanship of the house through their famous embroidery work.

Overall, it's a very elegant vision of haute couture, with clean cuts, enhanced by significant details that we were able to find for each designer. Daniel Roseberry from Schiaparelli, for example, used golden baguettes, but also golden corsets. Kim Jones, meanwhile, drew inspiration for Fendi from the era of Roman antiquity for a contemporary reinterpretation of capes and drapes with tone-on-tone pieces decorated with statues.

Gothic imagination and vampires

In contrast to the others, vampires and ghosts inspired the houses of Viktor & Rolf, Yuima Nakazato and Charles de Vilmorin this year. Long red capes, a new shoulder line hiding the models' necks, skeletons… the three designers have drawn on the “gothic” spirit of old Hollywood films for their haute couture collection. For Viktor & Rolf, old Hollywood films about Dracula were the primary source of inspiration. An inspiration found in Charles de Vilmorin, with ghosts and a macabre universe, which for example adorned his dresses with skeletons.
