Five exhibitions dedicated to fashion to be found in Paris this winter<

This winter, fashion rubs shoulders with art and cinema and finds its place in museums where many great designers are honored. A journey retracing the history of fashion, or the journey of a particular designer, there is something for everyone. Archives, photographs, videos and rare pieces come together to offer breathtaking exhibitions, both lively and playful. Here is our selection of the most beautiful exhibitions to discover at the moment in Paris.

A fashion story. Collecting, exhibiting at the Palais Galliera

Rarity and elegance are the key words of this exhibition. During a chronological and thematic journey, the public is led to discover the history of the Palais Galliera and the various collections on display. The greatest exhibitions of the palace and its rarest acquisitions are thus put forward. In total, nearly 350 pieces from the 18th century to the present day are unveiled between clothing, accessories, graphics and photographs. We find, for example, pieces from the wardrobe of Countess Greffulhe, but also from the designer Rick Owens and the brand Comme des Garçons, thus creating a real panorama of fashion. A sublime exhibition that fashion lovers cannot miss.

Cinemode by Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier had carte blanche for this exhibition at the Cinémathèque de Paris. Undisputed fan of cinema, the designer worked alongside Luc Besson or Pedro Almodóvar by making the sumptuous and extravagant outfits for the films Fifth Element and Kika. In the room, the history of fashion and cinema come together to create a playful and interesting exhibition. Dress worn by Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Rocky's shorts or Superman's leotard, all genres and styles are honored. A way for the French designer to show his love for the 7th art and fashion at the same time. Posters, videos and legendary pieces from the films come together to bring this exhibition to life.

Azzedine Alaia, Peter Lindbergh

Two men who marked the history of fashion and photography meet for this exhibition at the Azzedine Alaïa Foundation. Photographs and pieces of clothing are synchronized in order to propose a visual dialogue between the works of the two men. Peter Lindbergh and Azzedine Alaïa both bet on simplicity in their artistic vision with refined portraits for one and second-skin outfits for the other. Throughout the exhibition, the public discovers photographs signed Lindbergh as well as the clothes and outfits created by Alaïa, all in black and white. This exhibition is on view until January 18, 2022 and was produced with the support of the Peter Lindbergh Foundation.

200 trunks 200 visionaries: The Exhibition

This traveling exhibition will pass through New York, Tokyo and London before concluding with an auction at the end of 2022. It is in the heart of the Louis Vuitton family house, in Asnières, that the 200 trunks are on display. From a blank model with dimensions similar to the first trunk made by LV in 1850, the 200 employees have reinterpreted it in their image. Colourful, digital, innovative, each trunk has a diverse history. When the public passes the landing on the first floor, they are greeted by dozens of these works, placed at different heights, giving the impression of being in a different world. An original exhibition not to be missed this winter.
