Martin Margiela, total artist.This is the postulate of the monographic exhibition that Lafayette Anticipations de Paris dedicates him to him.Difficult to contradict this point as his fashion career was disruptive, intellectual, avant-garde...Margiela left fashion in 2008 to devote herself to visual arts.In this exhibition thought like a single work and produced in situ, it presents a multidisciplinary corpus: installations, sculptures, collages, photographs, paintings and films.

Of course, he does nothing like the others.Going so far as to modify the address of the foundation.The visitor is invited to discover his art by a rescue exit.Once in the courtyard, we observe the picturesque portrait of a deodorant, a trivial object erected to the rank of art of art, like those of Marcel Duchamp representing his famous Ready-Made.By taking the staircase reserved for fire evacuations, we then discover a work with convoluted scenography.His creations are clandestine, hidden in this labyrinth, they only manifest themselves at the bend of a corridor or behind a curtain.Three themes dominate: human anatomy, one of the artist's obsessions, is very present.Red Nails, a sculpture of Oversized False Nails is installed in a corner of the route.The sculpture of a shelter covered with fur, meanwhile, evokes with subtlety the passage of time, a classic of contemporary art.Finally the absence, the ritual theme of the vocabulary of Martin Margiela the invisible.Margiela had disappeared, long live "the appearance" of Margiela!
