Could we dream of a more appropriate place to celebrate fashion and the life that is coming back? By choosing this inspiring place, Maria Grazia Chiuri also echoes a famous series of photographs dating from 1951, featuring Christian Dior models at the foot of the Parthenon. This is the whole idea of ​​this Cruise collection, thought up by the artistic director of the house: to look at the past, without nostalgia, to enrich an ultra-contemporary vision.

In the Panathenaic Stadium in Athens - also known as Kallimarmaro - entirely built in Pentelic marble, and which in ancient times hosted the games in honor of the goddess Athena, the parade therefore took place at nightfall. the night.

Its strength lies in its duality: a subtle work on antique references - revisited peplum dresses, drapes, touches of gold mixing with white, Greek blue - and at the same time, a sportswear proposal borrowing from Couture to outline a supple silhouette, conducive to movement.

As usual, the artistic director carried out collegial and inclusive work around the Greek artisanal heritage, surrounding herself with highly talented local artisans. The Italian artist Pietro Ruffo was inspired by bodies in combat affixed to antique vases, to develop a striking and modern motif. As for the Greek-American singer Ioanna Gika, she offered the public a recital full of emotion, which finished giving this moment a timeless dimension.
