VACHERON CONSTANTIN - Overseas Dual Time 'Everest': on the wrist of an explorer

This new Overseas Dual Time 'Everest' version does not owe its name to chance. It is directly inspired by the prototype developed by the Vacheron Constantin manufacture to accompany the American explorer and photographer Cory Richards during his ascent to the roof of the world in 2019. Produced in 150 pieces, the watch has a solid case of 41 mm in diameter in titanium and steel fitted with screwed attributes (back, winding crown and GMT function pusher) to guarantee water resistance up to 150 meters. It is also equipped - like all Overseas - with an internal soft iron ring that protects its self-winding movement from magnetic interference...a device that, however, only repels interference below the dial and along the case middle since the back of the case is open to allow the caliber to be admired through a sapphire crystal. Certified with the prestigious Hallmark of Geneva, this sporty watch reveals on the back a mechanism that meets the highest standards of excellence in Swiss fine watchmaking.

Benefiting from NAC coating, a galvanic treatment that improves shock resistance and gives it an anthracite gray hue, it is also decorated with 'Côtes de Genève' and features a pink gold oscillating weight. This one is adorned with an engraving of Everest made from a photograph by Cory Richards. On the front side, the gray-blue dial with a grained finish offers optimal readability with its Superluminova-coated hands and indexes. Visible at first glance, the GMT hand - orange with an arrowhead - delivers the second time zone at 12 hours, information supplemented by a day/night indicator located at 9 o'clock. The instrument adds a date hand at 6 o'clock to its display panel and incorporates a patented device for interchangeable straps. It also comes with two different straps, one in Cordura® fabric, the other in rubber.

OMEGA - Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M: on the wrist of a spy

Heures Actuelles : montres sportives

With the cinema release of the new adventures of James Bond, "Dying Can Wait", enthusiasts of beautiful mechanics are mainly talking about the Omega Seamaster diver's watch which accompanies Daniel Craig for his last appearance. It should not be forgotten that the female roles who take part in the story also wear manufacture pieces on their wrists. This is the case of Lashana Lynch who plays Nomi, a British secret agent from MI6 who also bears the number 007 in this opus. In the film, the London actress with Jamaican origins wears this Seamaster Aqua Terra 150M on a black NATO-type textile strap. It is equipped with a 38 mm diameter case, a size suitable for thin wrists. Cut from a block of stainless steel, this unisex model is both technical and elegant. Thus, its case with a screw-down crown and back is water-resistant to 150 meters and alternates polished and satin finishes to play with the reflections of light.

Covered in luminescent white material, the indexes and hands, including the characteristic arrow-shaped minute hand, provide perfect reading of the time in all situations. These elements contrast on the black dial which is decorated in relief with a signature 'tek' motif reminiscent of the decks of ships. This instrument embeds a latest-generation Omega automatic caliber visible on the back thanks to the presence of a sapphire caseback. Decorated with 'Côtes de Genève' in arabesque, this Master Chronometer-certified movement meets the highest performance criteria. This is a double certification which includes the tests of the COSC, the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute, and those of METAS, the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology. It guarantees, for example, that this caliber is capable of withstanding extreme magnetic fields of up to 15,000 gauss (the equivalent of an MRI) while continuing to display excellent chronometric precision.
