The Sissi series arrives on TF1: this naughty and very sulfurous version awaits viewers!<

A few days before Christmas, TF1 will offer its viewers, this Thursday, December 23 from 9:05 p.m., Sissi. Make no mistake, this is not the 1955 version, the most iconic worn by Romy Schneider. The actress had taken on the role of the young Empress of Austria three times, in Sissi (1955), Sissi empress (1956) and Sissi facing her destiny (1957).

But this time, it's a series, directed by Sven Bohse, who was a hit in Germany and who will try to do the same in France. To succeed Alain Delon's ex, the production called on Dominique Devenport, a Swiss-American actress unknown to the general public who got her first big role... obtained by chance. "I was having a beer with a friend in Munich, and I was explaining to him how I felt a connection with Sissi," she explained in an interview with Variety. "What I didn't know was that the next day this friend was meeting the show's casting director. He told her about me and she called me. I auditioned and I was detained.” Her husband, Emperor Franz Joseph I, is portrayed by German actor Jannik Schümann.

The successors of Romy Schneider and Karlheinz Böhm will offer a much less smooth and sulphurous story.

On the one hand, Dominique Devenport seems like an empress, more modern and sure of herself. "We wanted to show the emancipation of this woman," she admitted when she came to Canneséries. His on-screen partner shows a portrait of Franz at odds with what Sissi fans have known but closer to the emperor and the husband than he has been...
