Pontes behind Spider-Man, Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige, say more about the creation of Spider-Man: No Way Home and tease that Disney/Marvel and Sony "actively start to develop" the next Spidey story, which could well beSpider-Man 4.
In an interview with the New York Times, A.Pascal and K.Feige were questioned about the next film Spider-Man Stand Alone and on the recent comments which confirmed that Sony and Disney would continue to work together on three other Spider-Man.
"We are producers, so we always think that everything will eventually work," explains Pascal."I love working with Kevin. We have a great partnership, with also Tom Rothman, who directs Sony and who has been essential, a great leader with great ideas.I hope it will last forever.»»
Kevin Feige adds that not only do they work together but that they "actively start to develop" the story towards which Spider-Man could then.Whether Spider-Man 4 or another appearance, it remains to be seen, but fans will be happy to learn that the next step with Tom Holland in Peter Parker is already planned.
K.Feige specifies that he reveals this info so as not to relive a situation similar to what happened after Far From Home when Sony and Disney/Marvel almost did not redo a film Spider-Man together.
"Amy and myself and Disney and Sony are talking about it - yes, we are actively starting to develop towards what history will then go, what I say frankly only because I do not want fans to relive the trauma of theseparation they experienced after 'far from home'.This will not happen this time, "says Feige.
Please note, we spoil Spider-Man: No Way Home following this article. You already have the bulk of the info so do not hesitate to stop here if you haven't seen it yet.
"At the end of the film we have just made, we see Spider-Man making a huge decision, something we have never seen it before," adds Amy Pascal.“It is a sacrifice. And that gives us a lot of work for the next film.»»
A.Pascal also returns to how studios can do "better" than Spider-Man: No Way Home who sees the return of many actors in the Spider-Man license.
"All Spider-Man films cannot present a multitude of characters," replies Amy Pascal.“The approach was the right one for this time.We cannot try to outdo ourselves in terms of show.Otherwise the films always become bigger for no reason, and that does not give a good result. But we can try to surpass ourselves in terms of quality and emotion.»»
"Kevin and I never lose a view: Peter Parker. That it is a normal kid. That he is orphan again and again. That he is a teenager, everything he does in his life is exacerbated and all counts more than anything else. That it fits in goodness and guilt. That he fights for a greater cause and that he is hated by the press.»»
The duo of directors continues by speaking of the way in which they managed the return of all these actors in the Spider-Man universe and if they do not offer specific details, they tell the progress a little and how they convinced theskeptical.
"It was necessary that it was not appearances that to touch a check," explains Pascal.“The role had to be real.I was there for them the first time and that I am there again, that I have too much respect for them and all the work accomplished all these years.»»
Many have rejoiced and celebrated the return of Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in their versions of Spider-Man, but others hoped to see the Spider-Man of Kirsten Dunst or Emma Stone of The Amazing Spider-Man.
"When people see the movies, they understand," says Feige.“It's a matter of history. It was a goal for all of us - Amy and Jon and our authors, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers - that the last years of Peter Parker in high school were not drowned in madness born from his meeting with Doctor Strange. It could easily have happened. And that is why there are not 20 other people in the film.»»
Amy Pascal and Kevin Feige are also questioned by Brooks Barnes du Nyt about a possible "woman with super powers alongside Spider-Man" one day.The discussion then mentions that in a comics, MJ has the opportunity to try the Iron Spider-Man armor. If Amy Pascal offers only an enigmatic smile and simply answers "never say", Kevin Feige is a little more philosophical.
“We have many scriptwriting arches, Brooks!Lots of script arches, "he replies.“It all depends on these super, super actors.I have in the idea that your question concerns less what MJ has done in comics and the more 'Zendaya is great. Can we see her again? '»»
Pascal and Feige have now worked together on three Spider-Man films and some appearances in the MCU films, and they both come back to the start of their partnership after the Spider-Man 2 "a little wobbly".
"It's true," admits Amy Pascal."I called Kevin and said 'to help'.And he came to dinner at the office and answered 'I know how to help you.'And I threw a sandwich on him.»»
"She said, 'I really want you to help me for this next film.We have good ideas for the next one. It's great, ”says Feige."And I said 'I'm not good at that - give my opinion and go.The only way I am sure I can help is if I make the film for you. '»»
"And then Kevin called me at home and said 'I have an idea. What if Tony Stark makes Peter's costume? 'And when he said that, I understood all the possibilities that there was to work together, "concludes Amy Pascal."To have Iron Man and Spidey in the same world, a based on technical innovation - the new costume - and less on medical experimentation, where we were previously confined, it seemed much more modern.»»
The interview is filled with interesting small details, including the confirmation that Amy Pascal has once made a time with Tom Holland in a bathtub, without more details.
