Mank at the top of the 2021 Oscar nominations in front of Nomadland<

David Fincher's film was largely quoted by the Academy, with 10 nominations, even if it is that of Chloé Zhao, with his 6 nominations, which will be a favorite during this 93rd edition.

A few weeks behind the usual calendar, the Oscar academy unveiled the list of appointments on Monday for the 93rd ceremony, which will be held on April 25 in Los Angeles.

Symbol of a year of pandemic, apart from the 7th art, with the closure of dark rooms, Netflix is the lion's share. His film Mank, directed by David Fincher, comes first, with 10 nominations, in front of another feature film of the platform, the seven of Chicago d'Aaron Sorkin, who won 7 nominations. The big favorite of this 93rd edition will still be called Nomadland. The minimalist film by Chloé Zhao, crowned with recent Golden Globes, however only gleaks 6 nominations, is as much as The Fatherdu Français Florian Zeller and the American-Sud-Corean surprise, Minari. Finally, Promising Young Woman and My Rainey account for 5 nominations each. The evening will therefore be played between these 7 films.

These nominations are also a first for women filmmakers since there are two (Chloé Zhao, therefore, but Aussiemerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman) to compete in the best director category. While Steve Yeun (Minari) becomes the first Asian appointed to the Oscar for best actor. Finally, note that the French film two failed to represent the tricolor cinema at these 2021 Oscars, since it is not one of the 5 finalists selected for the statuette of the best foreign film, where Drunk - crowned with César Friday - will act as headposter.
