Entre longueurs et belles surprises, la deuxième partie de la saison 5 nous réconcilie avec la série espagnole.

Please note, this criticism contains spoilers on part 2 of season 5 of the Casa de Papel.

On December 3, the final episodes of the Casa de Papel were put online on Netflix for farewells expected.Created by Alex Pina and broadcast for the first time in 2017, the Spanish series was an incredible success at its beginnings. Its concept, its well -crafted intrigues and the many reversals led to viewing records on the platform. To the point that the series has become a real social phenomenon: we remember "Bella Ciao", song sung during anti-capitalist demonstrations, and legendary red costumes that have become anti-system symbols around the world.

But now, it is surely this popularity of the series, and our great expectations, which will have caused its loss.In view of its success, producer and diffuser may have had the eyes larger than the belly, and that was felt over the seasons. With the decision to involve the characters in a second robbery during the third part, this time in the Bank of Spain, the Casa de Papel quickly found itself out of the scenario side. Our friends gradually dropped the viewing of the series, and on our side, we hung on to the hope of finding what had made us vibrate.

The first part of the last season, released on September 3, also left us hungry despite some twists who continued to be talked about on the networks.Always shocked by the death of Nairobi (Alba Flores), we were taken the second badass woman in the series, Silene Oliveira alias Tokyo (úrsula Corberó).Despite everything, the last part of the Casa de Papel is good. She comes to reconcile us with certain characters and offers us a outcome worthy of the name.

These final episodes logically open up to the reactions of the different characters following the death of Tokyo. This event comes like a blow for the robber, already well demoralized, and always delivered to their fate within the Bank of Spain. The showrunner has nevertheless reserved a nice surprise for everything: Tokyo's voice continues to make the narration. The professor (Álvaro dead) is also hard hit by the death of Silene. He will experience a moment of vacating which will allow to relaunch the intrigue on his side.

Besides, this first narrative frame does not disappoint us, on the contrary.Alongside Alicia Sierra, the brilliant inspector (embodied by Najwa Nimri), the spectator witnesses are witnesses of an alchemy as incredible as it is unexpected between the two characters. The duo shares tender and moving moments, which finally suggest the more human side of the inspector, without ever doing too much, and which also offer us the best character development. We also find a suspense which reminds us that of the first seasons and which leaves us with our eyes on our screen.

On the side of the Spanish bank, however, the pace is very different.Team members are starting to find the time long, and we too.In addition, their love stories seem to take over the fact of finding a solution to get the 92 tonnes of gold from the bank. The lengths are also felt through flashbacks. So yes, what a joy to find Berlin (Pedro Alonso). But even if these feedback is necessary to understand part of the plot, some of them come to break the pace of the main arc.

Despite everything, we remain spoiled by some beautiful scenes that remind us of the first seasons and make us a little nostalgic, like the emotion caused by the first gold nuggets falling into the spillway, or"Bella Ciao" resumed header by part of the team. This final season also offers us a beautiful Happy Ending type final with the Hollywood, which will delight some of the fans (and will probably annoy the other). The end credits, like Marvel films, allows the series to make beautiful farewells.

A suite on the adventures of the happy companions seems unlikely. However, a spin-off of the series centered on the character of Berlin has already been announced.Entitled Berlin: In New Series, this next extension of the universe is scheduled for the current 2023. Enough to delight fans saddened by the end of the Casa de Papel.
