Villeurbanne 2022 #1: Novarina revisits the myth of Orpheus<

Rhythmic Disquiet, an exhibition of works by Valère Novarina

We will not fail to admire the paintings, drawings and lithographs of this complete artist, at the URDLA, printmaking center, until March 12.

Created in 1978, URDLA is a hybrid place, workshop, art gallery and publishing unit. Each year, URDLA selects and invites artists in residence. These artists, of various origins, aesthetics and generations, have the opportunity to practice original prints thanks to the equipment and personnel made available to them: eight presses, including one of the rare Voirin 120 x 160, which the Ministry of Culture made available to artists in 1983, his works, his lithographic stones, etc.

These tools bear witness to the labor involved in making an image, in radical opposition to today's digital techniques. An exhibition and meeting gallery, a store with some 2,000 prints available, and a bookstore complete this exceptional place installed in a former factory over 1,000 m².
