Charlotte Daize and Marie Bieder will welcome their first clients in early August. Photo Week
After two years of preparation, Marie Bieder and Charlotte Daize, mother and daughter, are preparing to open La Scatola. This new boutique in Thionville specializes in the creation of made-to-measure clothing for men.
“After 30 years of working as a commercial in the telephony industry, I wanted to do something else, to create a business. The problem was that I didn't really know what to do. Being passionate about fashion, my son Louis (she has five children, editor's note) suggested I do something in this area. That’s how the adventure started”, says Marie Bieder who, at the beginning of August, opened La Scatola, a tailor-made clothing store exclusively dedicated to men’s dressing, in Thionville. Not alone! It turns out that her daughter, Charlotte Daize, after a few years working in marketing in Luxembourg, also wanted to move on and therefore joined her mother. Good idea. The duo is complementary, in terms of professional skills but also of character, Charlotte being responsible in particular for tempering Marie, the flamboyant.
Between the start of the project and its completion, two years passed. Mother and daughter studied the market, in Thionville, Metz or Luxembourg, to develop an innovative offer. They also had to deal with the reluctance of banks and the constraints linked to the health crisis. “We also had to find the right commercial premises, suppliers and a high-quality manufacturing workshop. And also train us, in Paris, to acquire the right gestures, confides Marie, it was an obstacle course but we didn't give up. »
Carpet on the floor, mirror, mannequin, fashion accessories (belts, ties, etc.), La Scatola will welcome gentlemen looking for coats, suits, jeans and other shirts. “Bespoke and elegant clothes,” adds Charlotte. “We have a range of approximately 1,500 fabrics selected from the greatest Italian, English and French drapers. As we are not tailors, we collaborate with a reputable workshop that works for major luxury brands. He takes care of making the pieces we order from him, in less than six weeks. »
And for customers who don't have time to go to the store – there is no doubt that they would have a good time there –, no concern since the friendly duo travels to homes or businesses, by appointment, within a radius of about fifty kilometers. "We're not just going to wait for the customer, we're also going to pick him up," says Marie Bieder (the salesperson!). “This implies on our part to be professional, available and reactive, but also to offer a range of high quality products which nevertheless remain accessible in terms of price. We make tailor-made suits from 600 euros. »Fabrice Barbian
