You may have already crossed it at the bend of an alley or on the Valentré bridge ... In his costume, Christophe Le Goff embodies the wild man as part of the Cahors June Jardins festival that takes place this weekend. The opportunity to get to know the Toulouse artist who hides behind the mask.
Who is the man behind the wild guest of the festival?
I am a dancer, choreographer and performer.I have a company called Maygetsin based in Toulouse.I created a dance project entitled Genius Loci, a Latin phrase which means "the spirit of the place".I settle for several days in heritage places or natural spaces.I was notably in the Canary Islands during a sand storm or even in a wood compression plant.
What do you offer as part of Cahors June Jardins?
I embody the figure of the wild.I taste the spirit of the place. The wild man does what goes through his head, what he wants: to lie on the ground, to climb the entrance of a church ... It is a form of play, with a childish side, but with alsoa strangeness. There is also in him a form of delirium and absurd, which can question us about the "normal" and the normative.
I Know How to Count Up to 20 in Italian Im So Proud :)) Lmao!

Have you created your costume yourself?
No, I worked with Sylvie Durin who is a costume creator. The wild man dresses what he finds in the environment. Here the costume is made up of marine waste (nets, etc..)).It is also a suit that is inspired by traditional holiday costumes. For this project I also worked with Lorena Calandin, my artistic collaborator.
Where can you meet this weekend?
From Friday to Sunday I will be present in different places in the city.I will be on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Moorish garden and Sunday at 5 p.m. at Square Olivier-de-Magny.You have already started strolling through the streets of Cahors, how did passers -by react? There were both astonishment and fear, but also laughs ... or indifference. Some wonder if I am alive or a sculpture!
