The museums are open – 13 exhibitions in French-speaking Switzerland not to be missed

Maurice Denis, the youth of a painter

The Musée cantonal des beaux-arts de Lausanne invites us to take a serene stroll through the world of Maurice Denis. Barely the door of the first room crossed, a soft music invades us. Opposite the “Muses”, a famous canvas by the Nabi painter dating from 1893, we hear the prelude to “La damoiselle Élue” by Debussy. “The arpeggio with its isolated, detached notes is found in the rhythm given by the large trunks. The melody continues with the women intertwined between the trees and the color which, as in music, tends towards monochrome”, explains Catherine Lepdor, curator of the exhibition.
