Elton John and Bernie Taupin on how 'Rocketman' captures a life rated R<

At 72, John remained artistically engaged-in the middle of a farewell tour, and still composed for films and theatre (the remake of the "Lion King"; a musical version of "the Devil wear Prada"). He divides his time between furnish and their sons, aged 8 and 6, in several homes. The oldest is a football demon, the youngest wants to be a singer: "he knows all the words of 'old Town Road'-both remixes."

In separate telephone interviews-69-year-old mole from his home in California and John during a visit to Copenhagen-the two men discussed the possibility of filming their lives. These are edited excerpts from conversations.

Is the film difficult for you?

Elton John et Bernie Taupin sur la façon dont ‘Rocketman’ capture une vie cotée R

Elton John the first time I saw it was in January or February, it was a very rough copy, and that's when I got the most emotion, because I didn't know what to expect. It certainly had a huge impact on me, especially the family business and Bernie's. It makes me happy and sad. I think the film is finally about redemption and how anyone can get it if they try.

When was the first time you heard about the project?

Bernie Taupin I guess you have to go back at least five years, but since time and space aren't real friends, it's a little hard to say. They sent me a first script and, to be honest, I wasn't very happy. Some rude language made me uncomfortable-I am not someone who uses rude language. They were very willing to my suggestions. I wanted my character to align as much as possible with reality. I was a little uncomfortable with the (non-chronological) order of the songs. I wasn't 100% sure what they were actually doing. The word "fantasy" continued to be mentioned.
