Mattel Inc., the parent company of the Barbie brand, announced in a statement on Thursday the launch of a ready-to-wear collection in collaboration with the French luxury house Balmain.
This collection signed Balmain X Barbie is accompanied by a miniature version suitable for dolls.The project also marks the first steps of Barbie in the world of digital art with the creation of three NFT (non-Fungible Tokens): the avatars of Barbie and Ken carrying the collection of Olivier Rousteing, artistic director of Balmain.
The ready-to-wear and accessories line Barbie X Balmain resumes successful aesthetics by Olivier Rousteing in the last decade.From the Barbie logo marked by a 90’s accent, including the emblematic packaging of Barbie, the collection of around fifty pieces combines the characteristics of the toy with those of the Parisian label.
