Azzi & Osta Number 7, ready-to-wear at the crossroads of Matisse and summer<

The first impression is sparkling, mischievous, a taste of Prosecco, the colors of a fruit market in a village in Provence, of a sundae of ice cream on a terrace by the sea, of joy, of oblivion, bells of laughter, blue horizons, carnal pinks, soft greens, yellows of walls heated in the sun, metallic textures that the light irides with sparkling oceans. A whole summery and optimistic palette drawn from the brushes of Matisse and enriched with contrasts by a game of deconstructions, illusions, juxtapositions where black plays its sensual note solo.

Vitamins and fresh air

The Spring-Summer 2022 collection by Azzi & Osta combines the fluid and the structured, the tailored jacket and the ruffle freely, the caryatid pleating but released from the hieratic sheaths, offered to the play of the wind, the knit like a second skin, accomplice of the movement. It features the tandem's signature details, XXL bows, thin belts, corsets, pleats, in a simplified haute couture vocabulary. “In this collection, we experience feelings of nostalgia around moments of happiness that we want to keep forever,” explains George Azzi. “Fashion is just an expression of self, adds the brand's co-creator, Assaad Osta, It's about imagination, a fleeting sense of creativity in our daily routine. »

For the pair, it was above all a question, once again, of marking a victory against the pandemic by celebrating the joy of returning to the great outdoors. The muse of this vitaminized line is "a child of summer who dreams of sunsets and golden sand", explains the manifesto. In fact, the two creators lead this childlike woman, out of her helmet armed with everything that can illustrate the sweetness of life, in a free conquest of the streets of Paris where the brilliance of her dresses, the rhinestones of her suspenders or this dandelion motif in crystals affixed at random stings what, before its passage, is nothing but dullness and monotony. She receives messages, worn-out words of love, amuses herself with them, refuses to commit, slips and chameleons from one place to another with her gaiety as her only route.

A special mention is in order for the spring radiance of the palette, the bright greens, the fuchsia ribbons. More than audacity, there is a real science of color at Azzi & Osta which makes them dare, for example, the complementarity of mustard and parma. Complex constructions give the impression of layers. The high waist of the tapered pants joins the same color basques with a contrasting shoulder, which lengthens the silhouette even more. The metallic flounces that float on structured dresses are a nod to oriental dance, a fluid fusion of cultures without seeming to touch it. With this collection, we see a new direction in line with the changes caused by confinement. This line embraces diversity, invites you to live in the present and find beauty in the most trivial moments, while giving yourself glamorous and playful airs. Azzi and Osta took the time to reflect on what to expect from fashion “post-pandemic”. They have carefully crafted their luxurious take on the art of seduction. A destined meeting

George Azzi and Assaad Osta met at Esmod Beirut in 2004. Between them forged a close bond and a united artistic vision based on their shared interest in history, surrealism and fabric science.

Finishing their training at the top of their promotion, they attract the attention of Elie Saab who offers them an internship in his workshops. They will then work directly alongside the designer. It was only a few years later, in 2010, that they founded their eponymous haute couture workshop. Today, the Azzi & Osta brand enjoys the status of an international luxury brand, and covers haute couture as well as ready-to-wear, gala and weddings.

The meeting of George and Assad was almost predestined, the two creators having traveled parallel paths since childhood. George was inspired by his grandmother who was a seamstress and from whom he recovered, playing at her feet, the scraps of fabric to make clothes of his own invention. Assaad, for his part, spent hours watching his mother as she sewed her own clothes, fascinated by her gestures, of which he remembered the smallest details. These formative years influenced the way Georges and Assaad approach their work.
